ALGONA, Iowa – Robbing a gasoline station with a sword is sending a North Iowa man to jail.
Nicholas John Rosenstiel, 40 of Ventura, has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars, with credit score for time served, after pleading responsible to second-degree theft.
Legislation enforcement says Rosenstiel entered the gasoline station on W Essential Avenue in Wesley on December 17, 2019, armed with a sword and carrying a masks. Rosenstiel was accused of demanding cash from the clerk and getting away with round $200 in money. He was arrested on December 20, 2019.
Rosenstiel was initially charged with first-degree theft, which is punishable by as much as 25 years in jail, however accepted a plea deal for a lesser offense.
