A lady has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a police automotive on a busy important highway in Adelaide.

The incident occurred alongside Magill Street, close to the intersection of Nelson Road and Osmond Terrace, at Norwood simply after noon on Thursday.

SA Police mentioned the patrol automotive was travelling east alongside the principle highway and tried to show proper onto Osmond Terrace — the place the Norwood Police Station is positioned — when the automotive hit the pedestrian.

The lady in her 40s was taken by ambulance to Royal Adelaide Hospital the place she is being handled for non-life threatening accidents.

Police are investigating the circumstances.
